September 11 accused offers to plead guilty

ZACARIAS MOUSSAOUI, the only person in the United States charged in connection with the September 11 attacks, is offering for a second time to plead guilty, a legal source said yesterday.

A federal judge is evaluating whether to accept the plea, said the source.

The source, who spoke only on condition of anonymity because the matter remains sealed, said if US District Judge Leonie Brinkema finds Moussaoui mentally competent to make the decision, he could enter the plea before the end of the month.
