HUNDREDS of gardaí are seeking compensation from the State in a move that could cost tens of millions of euro.

More than 1,500 officers are suing for damages and the total claims bill is set to hit €80m.

New claims are also being received by the State Claims Agency from gardaí who allege they were injured at work.
