A SPANISH town hall’s traffic tsar was fined €145 for driving on an expired licence that he didn’t even have with him.

Pedro Calvo, the town councillor responsible for traffic safety and other issues involving Madrid’s streets, had a accident on riding his motorcycle. A policeman wavered about whether to ticket him for driving on a licence that expired a year ago.

“Of course you have to fine me,” he said, telling the officer. “It is your duty.”
