Bush team backs Abbas

THE Bush administration stands firmly behind the Palestinians’ new leader and believes the time is still right for peace, a top White House aide said yesterday.

“We never expected that the rejectionists would find (peace talks) a welcome development,” said Condoleezza Rice, the president's national security adviser.

“But it is now time for all of those who stand for peace and who say that they stand for peace to reject the rejectionists.”
