25 killed as earthquakes hit Iran and China

AN EARTHQUAKE measuring at least magnitude 5.9 shook a sparsely populated area of southern Iran yesterday, flattening seven villages and killing 10 people, officials said.

The tremor was felt as far away as Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

A strong earthquake also hit central China on Saturday, killing at least 15 people and injuring more than 450.
