DEPOSED Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide spoke on Central African Republic state radio soon after landing in the capital, Bangui.

In what were his first public remarks since escaping Haiti, Mr Aristide thanked authorities in Bangui, and saluted Africa and its people, “because Africa is the father of us, Haitian men and women”.

Mr Aristide’s radio address said nothing about returning to Haiti.
