THE cost of flash floods that devastated the Cornish village Boscastle could be as high as €40 million, experts have estimated.

The village’s main source of income is tourism and the floods coincided with the busiest time in the tourist calendar.

The clear-up campaign is set to continue for the foreseeable future with little prospect of tourists being able to visit the harbour and village centre in the next few months.
