Brennan to drive forward road tolls on major routes

MOTORISTS travelling on the main Dublin to Cork road face new pay-as-you-drive charges under plans drawn up by Transport Minister Seamus Brennan.

Brennan to drive forward road tolls on major routes

The toll charge, expected to be in the region of €2.50, will be introduced on the new motorway to help fund the National Development Plan 2000-2006 which continues to spiral out of control.

The move means the three major routes northwards, westwards and to the south, being upgraded to motorway standard, will operate pay-as-you-drive charges inside two years.
