WORLD leaders said that the $50 billion (E42bn) package to help lift Africa from poverty and proposed up to $9bn (E7.5bn) to help the Palestinians achieve peace with Israel would help to fight terrorism.

"We offer today this contrast with the politics of terror," said British Prime Minister Tony Blair, wrapping the G8 summit jolted by Thursday's bus and Tube attacks on London.

Leaders also pledged new joint efforts against terrorism in response to the attacks.
