Swede claims torture at Guantanamo Bay

A SWEDE who was detained by the US for more than two years at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, claimed yesterday he was tortured and said a female guard tried to persuade him to have sex. He denied any links with al-Qaida or the Taliban.

“It was always mental torture, but during the last month it was more physical torture they used against me,” Mehdi-Muhammed Ghezali told Swedish public radio.

The Pentagon denied any allegations that the 25-year-old was treated improperly or tortured, but said it would investigate his claims.
