Milosevic 'knew of planned massacre'

IN critical evidence at Slobodan Milosevic's war crimes trial, former Nato commander General Wesley Clark testified that the former Serbian president knew a civilian massacre was planned in the Bosnian town Srebrenica.

He said that Milosevic admitted he had warned Bosnia Serb army chief General Ratko Mladic "not to do this".

Mr Clark, a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the US presidency, testified as a prosecution witness in closed session at the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague on Monday and Tuesday.
