The Status Quo is broken on Corrie
The street's Les Battersby gets a pasting from the band, with the Quo's Rick Parfitt laying into Les outside the Rovers Return.
Viewers will see the legendary band appear in the Street on September 23.
They drop into the Rovers for a quiet drink before a gig.
Chesney (Sam Aston) spots them and rushes to tell Les that his idols are in the pub.
Les (Bruce Jones) dashes outside with a bunch of Quo albums under his arm, hoping to get their autograph.
But when they come face to face outside the Rovers, Francis Rossi recognises Les as the deranged fan who assaulted him during a gig years ago.
Parfitt attacks him and Les is left lying in the gutter.
The band were invited to appear in the soap as part of ITV's 50th anniversary celebrations.
Rossi said: "Both Rick and I are lifelong fans of Coronation Street so to be in the Rovers with the regulars is an ambition fulfilled."
Parfitt added: "We never miss an episode, down to our gigs beginning after 8.15pm so we can see the show in our dressing rooms. Being in Coronation Street is like being part of British history."
And this is not the only appearance Status Quo will be making in the show.
The band will be back in October to play at Les and Cilla's wedding reception as a peace offering.
Coronation Street producer Tony Wood said: "It's a great testament to the show when a band like Status Quo come forward wanting to film with us. It's a classic comedy storyline which will see Les living out his dream, but not in the way he expects."
Ian McKellen is the most recent high profile cameo on Coronation Street.
The Lord of the Rings star played dubious author Mel Hutchwright, and fulfilled a "long-held ambition".
Laurence Olivier had a role written for him but was too ill to appear.
Prince Charles visited in 2000, shown around by Mayoress Audrey Roberts as part of the 40th anniversary special.
Comic Peter Kay played a bit part as the disastrous date of barmaid Shelly.
Cliff Richard and the Spice Girls' Mel B have represented the pop world on the hit soap, and even former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has had a walk-on background part.
