X-traordinary sales of Shayne’s single

X FACTOR winner Shayne Ward sold a staggering 313,784 copies of his single on its first day of release, figures showed yesterday.

That’s My Goal has become the third fastest-selling single of all time, behind Elton John’s Candle In The Wind and Evergreen by Will Young. Retailers were swamped by fans with some stores selling out of the record altogether.

Around 250,000 copies were sold over the counter and the rest as internet downloads.
