From hostage film to hospital

A YOUNG boy whose terror during the horrific Beslan school siege was captured on a shocking video filmed by terrorists was flying to Moscow today for treatment.

From hostage film to hospital

Ten-year-old Georgy Farniyev survived the bloodbath which killed more than 200 of his classmates in North Ossetia by hiding in a bookcase.

In harrowing footage shot by the hostage-takers, he was pictured crouching with his hands on his head on the floor of School Number One’s gym at the feet of a masked gunman and a bomb.

Yesterday, with his mother Marina by his side, he was taken to Vladikavkaz airport to travel to a hospital in the Russian capital for treatment for leg wounds caused by a grenade as he made his escape a week ago.

Today Georgy managed a smile, sipped juice from a carton and ate chocolate biscuits as his mother tended to him while he lay on a bed in the back of the medical vehicle.
