Bogus cabbie convicted of two rapes

A BOGUS taxi driver is facing a long prison sentence after being convicted of two rapes at the Old Bailey yesterday.

Afghan Mohammed Akhtar, 28, posed as a minicab driver in his own car and lured women from outside bars and nightclubs.

On June 8, he picked up a 21-year-old Norwegian woman outside a bar in Soho, central London and drove her to

Kensington, west London, where he raped her.

Then, on July 25, he picked up a 31-year-old woman outside a central London nightclub and raped her in a churchyard.

Akhtar, of Watford Way, north-west London was convicted yesterday and remanded in custody for reports. He will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on October 25.
