Shell blast in Russia

AN explosion at a military firing range in southwestern Russia killed two serviceman, and authorities said yesterday they believed the shell that blew up was left over from the Second World War.

The blast occurred on Saturday while soldiers were burning rubbish at the Prudboi range in the Volgograd region, an official in the North Caucasus Military district said. Five other servicemen were injured, the official said.
