BRITISH police shut down a busy railway station north of London yesterday after an explosives-packed car was found outside it.

Police later said a second vehicle was being examined in the nearby town of Leighton Buzzard. The police refused to say where it was recovered. A Bedfordshire police spokesman said the vehicle was not found at the train station but it was also being linked to the terrorist attacks.

A 100-metre cordon was placed around the station and a series of controlled explosions carried out in a major operation by Bedfordshire Police in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police and British Transport Police.
