Columbus descendant jailed
Manuel Prado y Colon de Carvajal, 72-year-old ex-ambassador at large and friend of King Juan Carlos, had been associated with Javier de la Rosa, a disgraced and now jailed Catalan financier linked to the Kuwait Investment Office scandal that rocked Spanish politics in the late 1980s.
The National Court found Prado y Colon de Carvajal guilty of embezzling £7 million in a paper-mill sale and jailed him for two years.
