Men trapped

SIX British servicemen were last night trapped in a subterranean cave in Mexico after rising underground waters blocked their passage to the surface.

The team of soldiers, sailors, and airmen have been holed up in the Cueva Alpazat north-east of Mexico City since last Wednesday, a Ministry of Defence spokesman said.

They had gone to the area as part of an adventure training mission and at first only expected to spend 36 hours below ground.
