Haiti poll deal

HAITI has signed an agreement with the UN and Organisation of American States to set up elections next year.

The country already has €85 million in US aid available to help cover costs.

The accord pledging presidential, parliamentary and local elections in 2005 was signed on Monday, said Adama Guindo, co-ordinator of the project for the UN Development Programme.
