Workers trapped as mine floods

RESCUERS were trying to reach more than 100 miners trapped in a flooded coal mine in southern China yesterday, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The 103 miners have been trapped since yesterday afternoon in a shaft of the Daxing Colliery in Xingning City, Guangdong Province, Xinhua quoted unnamed local government officials as saying.

No further information was available on the accident in the mine in the city’s Huanghuai Township, the report said.
