EC pledges Zimbabwe aid

THE EC pledged yesterday to give €15 million in humanitarian aid to Zimbabwe.

“The European Commission is committed to providing humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable Zimbabweans, regardless of the political situation there,” said Louis Michel, the Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid.

The EU has frozen much of its long-term development aid to Zimbabwe in protest at the authoritarian rule of President Robert Mugabe.
