Church plans to ditch opera for R‘n’B
The Voice of an Angel soprano has said she has no intention of recording any more opera tracks and wants to do something “really different” instead.
She told Radio One’s Chris Moyles show she would be writing and recording in a few months.
“It won’t be poppy, or dancey. It’ll be R’n’B if anything,” Ms Church, 16, said.
“I want to do something really different, really original. It’ll have nothing to do with classical.
“Opera is a lot of work. If I wanted to be a proper opera singer I’d have to train for hours a day. Opera is beautiful and I used to like it a lot but now my taste has changed. I’ve got into other music.”
The Welsh singer already features on a dance track. She provides the vocals on The Opera Song by Jurgen Vries under her initials, CMC.
She admitted she had only been to the opera once.
Ms Church, who was reported to have stormed off when asked to do a meet and greet on her recent US tour, also denied she ever lost her temper, except with her parents.
“I don’t throw strops. I’m not that type of person. It’s unbusinesslike and it doesn’t get you anywhere.”
