Hotel near the Kremlin doomed

MOSCOW’S mayor has ordered the demolition of a huge Soviet-era hotel near the Kremlin, part of a frenzy of destruction and building that is changing the face of the centuries-old Russian capital.

Mayor Yuri Luzhkov has signed an order calling for the removal of the Hotel Rossiya, a 1960s hulk near Red Square on the Moscow River.
