Baby abandoned under bush

A NEWBORN baby has been found abandoned under a bush in Leicester, England.

The baby girl, just hours old, has been named Lily by nurses after she was discovered late on Sunday night and taken to hospital.

A 23-year-old woman heard Lily crying as she walked in the Beaumont Leys area.

She found Lily wrapped in a thin blanket and lying under a bush, and called emergency crews.

Although just hours old, the baby is said to weigh a healthy 7lb 6.5oz (3.36kg).

But while the baby is doing well, police are growing increasingly concerned about the welfare of her mother.
