Yushchenko’s wife backs poisoning claim

THE wife of Ukrainian opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko said yesterday she tasted poison on his lips when she kissed him, and blamed it for disfiguring her husband’s face.

“There was something different when he came home that night - he has never taken any medicine, he’s a very healthy man,” Kateryna Yushchenko said in an interview on ABC.

“I tasted medicine on his breath. He brushed it away, saying there is nothing.”
