Mugabe relaxes in luxury hotel
Owned by the London-based Dorchester Group, the renovated and much-chandeliered Plaza Athenée is one of Paris’s top hotels. The hotel is on the Avenue Montaigne, located beside great names of high fashion, such as Dior, Valentino and Christian Lacroix.
Zimbabwe’s leader has taken over an entire wing of the hotel consisting of 33 rooms for his delegation.
While outside the hotel the air is filled with demonstrators protesting at Zimbabwe’s human rights violations, the Mugabe’s have been taking comfort in their rooms, priced from €520 for a single to €4, 250 for the presidential suite.
All rooms are under the protection of 40 security guards.
