Hostage gang shot dead

POLICE fatally shot four alleged robbers and arrested three of their alleged accomplices after the gang took a family hostage in their home in southern Pakistan.

The seven armed men broke into a house in the city of Karachi and held the family hostage, said Nauman Siddiqi, Karachi’s deputy superintendent of police. Neighbours alerted police who surrounded the house.

The alleged robbers started shooting and a 30-minute gun battle ensued, Mr Siddiqi said. Four of the robbers were fatally shot and three others were captured as they tried to flee.
