Uranium quest for Iraq denied

A FORMER Iraqi diplomat has rejected British claims that he tried to buy uranium in Africa.

Saddam Hussein's attempts to launch a nuclear weapons programme were a key aspect of the case for war with Iraq.

Britain insists Saddam was trying to buy uranium from Niger even though papers purporting to show a deal with the west African state were revealed as fakes.
