Jilted woman who tore off ex-lover’s testicle jailed
Amanda Monti, aged 24, flew into a rage when 37-year-old Geoffrey Jones rejected her advances at the end of a drunken house party.
She yanked off his left testicle and tried to swallow it, Liverpool Crown Court heard. But Monti choked and spat it out before a friend handed it back to Mr Jones with the words: “That’s yours.”
In a statement read to the court, Mr Jones said: “Amanda attacked me in an unprovoked manner and the attack has ruined my life.”
Monti, from Birkenhead, Merseyside, pleaded guilty to wounding and was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in jail. Sentencing Monti, Judge Charles James said it was “a very serious injury” and that she was not acting in self-defence.
The judge said: “I have considered whether it is possible in a case of this kind, taking into account everything in your favour, not to pass a sentence of imprisonment, but I am satisfied that only a sentence of imprisonment is appropriate.”
The court heard Mr Jones had ended his long-term but “open relationship” with Monti towards the end of May last year.
The pair remained on good terms and on May 30 she picked him up from a party in Crosby and went back for drinks with friends at Mr Jones’s house.
As the night was winding down, Monti told Mr Jones she wanted to discuss their relationship and offered him sex. When he refused, she grabbed his face and a struggle ensued before Monti was forced out of the house.
Instead of leaving she smashed a window and went back inside.
In his statement, Mr Jones said: “Suddenly I found Amanda standing in front of me. She went for me again and I took hold of her wrists. We started to struggle and she fell to the ground.
“While we were on the ground she ripped off my shorts. However, I managed to get up and was left standing in my underpants. She was still on the ground and she grabbed my genitals and pulled hard. That caused my underpants to come off and I found I was completely naked and in excruciating pain.”
Mr Jones’s friend Danny McDonagh, who had been asleep upstairs, woke up and went to see what was going on. The court heard that he saw Monti put Mr Jones’s testicle into her mouth and try to swallow it.
She choked and spat it back into her hand before Mr McDonagh grabbed it and gave it back to Mr Jones.
Mr Jones’s said “My friend Danny came into the kitchen and said to me, ‘That’s yours’. He was holding one of my testicles in his hand.”
Doctors were unable to re-attach the organ and the court heard that Mr Jones was so embarrassed by what had happened he was selling his house.
Trevor Parry-Jones, prosecuting, said it would have taken “considerable force” to rip off Mr Jones’s testicle and added that he suffered a tear to his scrotum of between five and seven centimetres.
Mr Jones said: “I cannot begin to describe the pain I’ve suffered.”
The court heard that as Monti was taken away by police officers at the scene, she shouted: “I love him.” In a letter to the court, Monti said she was sorry for what she had done.
She said: “I am writing this letter to express to the court and to Geoffrey Jones my profound and deepest regret for the events of that night.
“It was never my intention to cause harm to Geoff and the fact that I have caused him injury will live with me forever. I am in no way a violent person.”
“I have challenged myself to explain what has happened but still I just cannot remember,” she said.
