£2m bikini steals the limelight from the stars at Fashion Week

SOPHIE ANDERTON wowed a star-studded crowd yesterday as she modelled the world’s most expensive bikini in Scott Henshall’s London Fashion Week Show.

Anderton, modelling at the old Saatchi Gallery in London, wore a jewel encrusted creation worth £2 million (€3m).

Among those watching the high-profile show were singer Samantha Mumba, Big Brovaz and It girl Tamara Beckwith.

Georgina Ahern, daughter of Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, also took to the catwalk watched by her husband Nicky Byrne from Westlife and mother Miriam.

Speaking after the show, Byrne said: “I was delighted because Gina does not do a lot of this.

“She has done a couple of catwalk shows in Ireland but then she met Scott and became a friend of his so she was happy to oblige.”

Henshaw is famous for designing dresses for celebrities, including the one worn by Mumba at the Spiderman II premiere earlier this year.

At £5 million (€7m) it has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive dress ever made, but this year he said he wanted to try something different.

“I could not eclipse the £5 million dress I did for Samantha Mumba so we decided to do the most expensive bikini ever made.

“It’s quite fun and something completely frivolous that maybe Beyonce could afford but that’s about it.”

After the show, Anderton admitted she was scared about wearing the bikini.

“There were security guards backstage who whisked it away the minute I took it off,” she said. “I was expecting someone to grab a diamond off it or something.”
