THE US is still greatly divided on values and major issues following the recent re-election of President George Bush, according to a poll out yesterday.

The first major poll since election day found that 72% of people believe the US is more deeply split on the big issues than at any time in recent history.

But more Americans appear to be getting behind their new president, according to the Gallup poll for CNN and USA Today.
