AN investigation was underway last night into security at a British nuclear power station after an undercover reporter used false references to gain a job working close to the main reactor.

A spokesman for British Energy, which runs Dungeness B nuclear power station on the south coast, said the probe could lead to stricter controls on staff.

The review was prompted by a News of the World reporter who gave a false address and two bogus references on his application form for a job as a fire watcher at Dungeness in Kent.
