They have not ruled out the possibility of obtaining dinosaur DNA from the 70-million-year-old samples. Until now the idea of DNA being preserved in ancient dinosaur fossils has not been taken seriously.

But it formed the basis of Michael Crichton's novel Jurassic Park made into a hit movie by Steven Spielberg in which scientists resurrected dinosaurs from their DNA.
