Man who rescued children from blazing flats jailed

A MAN who rescued four children from a burning block of flats in Texas over the weekend has been jailed for violating probation after authorities saw his heroics on TV.

Kris Leija, 22, ran into the building three times early on Sunday and emerged with the children, including one in a baby seat, before handing them to waiting firefighters.

But he was recognised as he gave a TV interview after the incident and was arrested for failing to meet his probation officer last month.
