A new report suggests that Sony may be considering launching a flagship Xperia smartphone featuring OLED screen technology in 2018. Sony recently announced its first range of OLED televisions, the A1 series, and appears to be keen to use OLED tech in other products. The report also suggests that the new display will be implemented in the flagship model only.

Although there has been an increase in the use of OLED displays over the past few years, the technology is yet to experience mainstream adoption. However, this could change in 2018 as a number of other smartphone manufacturers, including Apple, are believed to be exploring OLED and its benefits.
