The LG G4 (1:36), Motorola Droid Turbo (1:47), Google Nexus 6 (1:49), and Asus ZenFone (1:49) followed. The OnePlus 2 (2:10) and Apple iPhone 6 (2:35) were the slowest of the handsets tested.

Tom's Guide put seven popular handsets to the test to determine which of them was the quickest to charge. The handsets were checked at intervals, while their final time was also recorded.

The ZenFone 2 held its own for tests with short durations of charging, but fell away over time. If you only have five minutes to charge your handset, the ZenFone 2 will have the most charge (17%). The Google Nexus 6 (12%), OnePlus 2 (12%), and Samsung Galaxy S6 (11%) trailed in its wake.

After 30 minutes, both the ZenFone 2 and Galaxy S6 led the way at 53%. But then the Galaxy S6 started pulling away. It reach 80% charge after 48 minutes compared to the ZenFone 2, which took 56 minutes.

How long it takes to charge a handset may not be a deal breaker for many smartphone owners, but it’s useful to know how much lifespan you’ll get from a quick charge.

It’s clear that fast charging mechanisms in some handsets are making a difference with the Samsung Galaxy S6 coming out on top.
