Arsenal's Eberechi Eze greets manager Mikel Arteta as he is substituted off.

Arsenal's Eberechi Eze looks set to miss a month of football with a calf injury.

Eze suffered the injury in the Champions League victory against Bayer Leverkusen. The 27-year-old sat out Sunday's Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City as a result and has withdraw from Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has noted that the midfielder is due to go for a scan this week, but it is understood he will miss a month, with the Gunners still aiming to secure a 2025/26 treble.

Meanwhile, Arteta's side are set to play at the Aviva Stadium in August in a pre-season friendly against La Liga's Real Betis on Wednesday, August 5.

The tie is yet to be confirmed, but widely reported on Tuesday. It will be the Gunners' third time playing at Lansdowne Road after pre-season fare against Chelsea in 2018 and the 202 Europa League tie with Dundalk, where they won 4-2.

With so many of Arteta's squad set to participate in this summer's World Cup finals in North America, Arsenal have had to tailor their pre-season plans to minimise travel and the risk of fatigue and burnout.

Last year, they headed to the Far East - Singapore and Hong Kong - for their pre-season tour and have also frequently visited the United States as part of their preparations for a new Premier League campaign.

But this summer is notably different because key players will be handed significant rest following the World Cup as they will need to recharge the batteries following a long, gruelling season.

It's understood the Gunners are also in ongoing discussions about the prospect of booking in another overseas friendly in Europe.
