Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has called on Evan Ferguson to keep performing for Roma amidst speculation he is attracting interest from Celtic.
The Republic of Ireland striker is currently recovering from a minor injury issue which has come at a bad time as the Bettystown had began to find his goalscoring form.
Hurzeler admits he has seen an improvement from Ferguson in recent weeks and has backed him to keep developing until the end of his season long loan deal when he will return to the Premier League club in the summer.
“I think we saw an improvement from Evan, especially in the games and the minutes he played," said the Brighton boss.
“He was scoring goals. He had an impact on the game from Roma.
“Of course, there were some small issues, some small injuries, what makes it not always easy to get into rhythm.
“I think he has to keep pushing, has to keep improving, has to keep developing.
“I think there at Roma he has a very good coach. He can improve a lot.
“He can develop a lot and then he has to make sure that when he comes back, he's ready to immediately have an impact on us, on the team and tries to keep pushing to improve.
“We all agree, I think, that he has the potential to help us as a club, to help us as a squad.
“Now it's about him to show it, first of all, in the second part of the season, and then when he comes back for us.
“At the moment, that's the situation. Of course, like we all know, the window is open so everything can happen, but at the moment that's the case.”
