RUBEN Amorim surveyed the carnage of Manchester United's crazy 4-4 draw with Bournemouth and confessed: "It was fun."

Old Trafford regulars might use a different word to describe an eight-goal thriller that was certainly not short on entertainment.

United led three times, but were forced to settle for a point by a late equaliser from Cherries substitute Junior Kroupi in a breathless contest that had eight different scorers.

In an early contender for the Premier League's match of the season - if not always for quality then in terms of its drama - United led 1-0, 2-1 and 4-3 before having to settle for a share of the spoils.

Amorim's side are the first since Manchester City against Chelsea two years ago to take the lead three times in a Premier League game and not win as first-half goals from Amad Diallo and Casemiro plus late strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha weren't enough to seal victory.

Bournemouth fought back through goals from Antoine Semenyo, Evanilson, and Marcus Tavernier before Kroupi's fifth of the season capped a crazy night of football.

Amorim's side moved above Liverpool into sixth and the Portuguese said: "It was a fun game for everyone at home but the result should be completely different.

"We did a lot of good things but there is still a lot to work on. We need to be more clinical. We created so many chances to win and we should have come away with the three points.

"We lost concentration and they scored two goals at the start of the second half but when we scored two - then we have to finish the game so in the end we are frustrated."

United have dropped seven points in the last three home games. After experimenting with a fluid defence that alternated between a back three and back four to at best mixed results, Amorim added: "When you win away you should win at home. At least the performance was different from the previous two home games."

Bournemouth are without a win in seven, and boss Andoni Iraola "It's a game that is difficult to explain. It's a game with everything.

"One moment we think we've lost, the next we think we're comfortable then we have two chances at the end to win it so we take good and bad things from the game.

"It was two aggressive, open teams and it was a real up and down match for us. I'm not sure if we were happy finishing the game or whether we wanted five more minutes to find a winner so a point is not the reward we wanted."
