Dundalk have begun assembling new recruits for their 2026 Premier Division return, confirming a double swoop for midfielders Ronan Teahan from Kerry and Bohemians stalwart Keith Buckley.

Teahan (21) arrives at Oriel Park after progressing through the Kerry FC academy.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Teahan said the decision to join Dundalk was straightforward.

“It didn’t take much convincing.” said Teahan, who had a number of offers once his contract with the First Division club expired. “It’s a huge club here, and there’s a really good squad. It was really easy for me to make up my mind.”

Kerry FC said: "Despite our best efforts since July to keep Ronan in the Kingdom, he has decided to take on the challenge of the Premier Division with Dundalk.

"From his earliest days in the KDL & Kerry FC Academy, he has shown immense talent and commitment, embodying the values of our club both on and off the pitch. We are proud to have played our part in Ronan's development, providing him with the platform and opportunities to showcase his ability at senior League of Ireland level.

"His progress is a testament to the importance that Kerry FC give to nurturing young players and giving them a chance to shine. While we are sad to see him leave, we are equally proud to see him take this next step in his career.

"Everyone at Kerry FC wishes Ronan the very best as he embarks on this new chapter. Thank you, Ronan, for your contribution to Kerry FC. You will always be part of our story."

While Teahan, nephew of Kerry GAA legend Maurice Fitzgerald, is starting out on his top-flight career, Buckley is in the twilight of his.

The 33-year-old ended his long association with Bohs in pursuit of regular game-time.

“I can’t wait now to get started in a week or two,” said Buckley.

“It’s a fresh start and a new challenge for me. I’m looking forward to it and really excited to get going.”

After a bout of boardroom turbulence that saw US-born Irish businessman Chris Clinton assume majority control, Ciarán Kilduff has been able to affirm his plan for the 2026 season.

Work on the replacing the artificial surface at Oriel Park is well underway and their fixture list will be unveiled on December 16.
