The road to recovery is a familiar one for Ethon Varian to travel, so much so he has learned to remain philosophical about his latest injury.

“Things like that happen,” he admitted recently, leaning against the clubhouse at Ballyphehane GAA, taking some weight off his injured foot which is heavily concealed inside a protective boot.
