Eileen Gleeson is returning to the FAI in newly created position as head of football strategic insights and planning.
The former Ireland women’s manager has been idle since December when she and assistant Colin Healy were released following the Euro playoff defeat to Wales.
It’s known she retained a fallback clause in her contract from leaving her role as head of women’s and girls football for the international job but the FAI refused to discuss a situation that mirrored that of Robbie Keane in 2020.
Gleeson will report to the FAI’s chief operations officer Christina Kenny.
