Whilst the 2-2 thriller delivered on a soaked Richmond Park surface, for Shamrock Rovers, the build-up to the massive sold-out Dublin Derby was largely dominated by the division at boardroom level.

News broke during the week when Dermot Desmond, a 25% stake holder in the club, wrote a letter to the Hoops members mentioning that some behind the scenes were seeking to remove manager Stephen Bradley as well as criticizing some on the board for acting against the best interest of the club, without naming names.
