First Division: Dundalk 2 (Ebbe 27’, Kenny 80’) Treaty Utd 2 (Martin 86’, Devitt Molloy 90’)

Dundalk remain on course for immediate return to the Premier Division despite their perfect start to the season blotted by two late concessions.

Aodh Dervin had a part in both goals as the Lilywhites led 2-0 heading into the last four minutes before Eoin Martin and Lee Devitt pounced.

A Treaty victory would usurp the Lilywhites for top spot but they only started to threaten in the latter stages.

Just as it seemed Dervin, a rare survivor from last year’s relegated side, was going to be forced off with a knock, he recovered to launch a 27th-minite free-kick into the box.

When Treaty only half-cleared, captain Daryl Horgan initiated some head tennis by nodding the back into the six-yard area where Dean Ebb outjumped Corey Chambers to glance his header home.

Eoin Kenny had gone close twice for Dundalk in that first half and their profligacy was almost punished when Devitt got a sight on goal, only to scoop his 56th minute effort over the crossbar from 10 yards.

While Dervin was intending to assist from his free-kick, the zipped delivery swept past everybody, including Chambers, squeezing into the far corner for Dundalk’s seconsd.

Nerves descended on Oriel Park when Peter Cherrie’s allowed Martin’s long-distance shot squirmed through his hands before Devitt profited amid a scramble to head in the equaliser.
