History suggests there will be nothing easy about Atletico Madrid's bid to beat Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League, but manager Diego Simeone said he senses an opportunity for his side to end their disastrous run against their rivals.

The teams have previously been drawn against each other in the Champions League four times in the past 11 seasons, with Atletico on the losing side all four times, most notably in the 2014 and 2016 finals.
