Cork City's latest loan signing is Stoke City defender Freddie Anderson, son of former England, Manchester United and Arsenal defender Viv Anderson. Under the agreemen, the 18-year-old will stay in Cork for the entirety of the 2025 season.

Anderson made his full Stoke debut in the EFL Cup this season, scoring in a 2-0 win over Carlisle back in August. He previously spent nine years in Manchester City's academy.

The centre-back qualifies for the USA through his mother and having previously played underage for England, he recently joined a USA U20 training camp ahead of the 2025 U20 World Cup in Chile.

Speaking about his new club, who he played against in a friendly for Stoke last year, Anderson said: I’m just delighted to have finally signed.

“I’m really happy to be given such a great opportunity to play for such a great and big club like Cork City.”

City boss Tim Clancy said: “Freddie is a very impressive young defender, who we obviously got a close look at in last summer’s friendly.

"It’s another deal that we have been working on for a while, so to finally get it done is great, and it’s brilliant that we have him for the full season.”
