Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur carried off on a stretcher with worrying injury

Rodrigo Bentancur left the field on a stretcher after suffering a concerning injury during Tottenham’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool.

The Uruguay midfielder stooped low to head a corner after seven minutes but was left on the ground as play stopped, with immediate concern from his team-mates.

Bentancur received medical attention for nine minutes before he was replaced by Brennan Johnson at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

We can confirm Rodrigo is conscious, talking and will go to hospital for further checks.

Tottenham released an update on Bentancur’s condition at half-time, which read: “We can confirm Rodrigo is conscious, talking and will go to hospital for further checks.”
