Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna fears Republic of Ireland international Chiedozie Ogbene has suffered a serious achilles injury.

The Corkman was stretchered off during the first half of Ipswich's 4-3 loss at Brentford today. He appeared in a lot of pain leaving the field after going down without contact.

“It is a bad one," said McKenna, after the game. "We think he's torn his Achilles. We'll need to see, but he's going to be out for a period of time."

McKenna later added: “That's what I’ve been told at the moment. We hope that won’t be the case but I think that’s what looks most likely.

"Is it a six-to-nine-month injury? You’ll have to get a medical opinion on that but an Achilles tear is a big injury, so we hope that it won’t be that but I think the consensus at the moment is that it is."

There was more bad news for Ireland boss Heimir Hallgrímsson, with McKenna also ruling Jack Taylor out of November's international double-header with Finland and England.

"Jack Taylor has a hamstring injury, which will rule him out until at least after the international break."

Another Ireland star Robbie Brady was also subbed off with an injury in the first half of his game for Preston at Plymouth.
