First Division: Treaty United 2 (Mahdy (P) ‘4, O’Connor ’78) UCD 2 (Mohan ’48, Brennan ’70)

Play-off-bound UCD were halted by a determined Treaty United side eager to finish their season on a positive note.

In a very open contest, both sides will feel they left the extra points behind them at Markets Field. Both sides held the lead, but neither showed the quality to protect it.

The Limerick side have now dropped 21 points from winning positions this season, however, they trailed after allowing the Dublin outfit to take control in the season half.

Yoyo Mahdy bagged his fifth goal for United with a penalty inside four minutes, after a handball in the congested Students penalty area.

A 48th minute reply came from the visitors when Stephen Mohan’s effort from the edge of the area was deflected to the net via Richkov Boevi.

Mahdy soon thundered a sublime effort off the underside of the bar. While his effort appeared just centimetres from crossing the line, Lee Devitt headed home on the follow-up. However, the assistant referee adjudged the midfielder to be offside.

Hugh Parker was then denied by United keeper Corey Chambers with an acrobatic save before Adam Brennan found the go-ahead goal entering the final twenty minutes.

A neat exchange of passes on the edge of the area ended when the midfielder drilled the ball low to the corner.

Evan O’Connor pounced for the leveller after some good work out wide by fellow substitute, Thomas Considine. This extends the unbeaten run to four for Tommy Barrett’s men.

UCD will recalibrate ahead of their clash with Longford, before attacking the Play-Offs.
